February 10 1968 - Peggy Fleming wins Olympic figure skating gold medal. It was the only USA gold medal of seven medal finishes at Grenoble. 1992 - Bonnie Blair wins 500m speed skating event, one of five gold medals for USA at Albertville. 2002 - Kelly Clark became the first American ever to win gold in this American-invented sport, doing so by posting one of the highest scores ever awarded in a women's halfpipe competition at Salt Lake City.
February 11 2002 - Ross "The Boss" Powers took charge of the men's Olympic halfpipe, and "co-workers" Danny Kass and JJ Thomas did the rest as the U.S. Snowboard Team made history with the first Olympic medals sweep of any snowboarding event at Salt Lake City.
February 12 2002 - Casey FitzRandolph wins 500m speed skating event, one of 10 gold medals for the USA at Salt Lake City.
February 13 1976 - Dorothy Hamill wins women’s figure-skating event, one of three USA gold medals at Innsbruck. 1982 - 2006 Olympian Steve Nyman, skiing, birthday.
February 14 2002 – Timothy Goebel captures bronze medal at Salt Lake City, one of a record 34 medals for Team USA in Salt Lake City.
February 15 1932 - USA bobsled team member Eddie Eagan (April 26, 1897–June 14, 1967) becomes only athlete to win gold in both Summer and Winter Olympics (1920 boxing gold). 1980 - Eric Heiden skates Olympic record 500m in 38.03 seconds to capture the gold medal at Lake Placid.
February 16 1980 - Eric Heiden skates 5k in 7:02.29 to set an Olympic Record in winning a gold medal, one of five in claimed in Lake Placid.
February 17 2002 - Chris Witty wins 1,000m speed skating event at Salt Lake City.
February 18 1979 - 2006 Olympian Sarah Schleper, skiing, birthday 2002 - USA did not medal on this day in Salt Lake City, but the men’s hockey team defeated Belarus 8-1 while curling split a pair of matches with the women defeating Norway 11-2 while the men dropped a 7-6 decision to Great Britain.
February 19 1980 - Eric Heiden posts another Olympic record by winning the 1000m in 1:15.18 at Lake Placid. 1984 - Phil and Steve Mahre become the first brother combo to win Gold and Silver in the same event at the same Olympics in Sarajevo. 1985 - 2006 Olympian Dan Joye, luges, birthday 2002 - Vonetta Flowers and Jill Bakken with the women’s bobsleigh gold medal at Salt Lake City. 2002 - Derek Parra captures the 1,500m men’s speed skating gold medal at Salt Lake City.

February 20 1988 - Brian Boitano wins gold medal in figure skating at Calgary 1998 - Tara Lipinski wins figure skating gold medal at Nagano. 2002 - Apolo Anton Ohno claims 1,500m short track speed skating gold at Salt Lake City. 2002 - Tristen Gale and Lea Ann Parsley claim gold and silver, respectively, in women’s skeleton at Salt Lake City. 2002 - Jim Shea captures men’s skeleton gold at Salt Lake City.
February 21 1973 - 2006 Olympian Brian Rolston, ice hockey, birthday 1977 - 2006 Olympian Tyler Jewell, snowboarding, birthday 1980 - Eric Heiden skates to another Olympic record by winning the 1500m in 1:55.44 at Lake Placid. 1992 - Kristi Yamaguchi wins gold medal in women's figure skating at Albertville. 2002 - Sarah Hughes skated a flawless long program to win the figure skating gold medal with Michelle Kwan capturing the bronze in Salt Lake City.
February 22 1980 - USA beats USSR in 4-3 en route to American’s second men’s gold medal in ice hockey in Lake Placid. 1982 - 2006 Olympian Travis Mayer, freestyle moguls, birthday
February 23 1980 - Eric Heiden wins his fifth speed skating gold medal at Lake Placid by capturing the 10,000 m with a world record time of 14:28:13.
February 24 1960 - USA beats Germany 9-1 to win its first men’s ice hockey gold medal at Squaw Valley. 2002 - XIX Winter Olympics closes in Salt Lake City
February 25 1994 – Nancy Kerrigan captures silver medal at Lillehammer finishing behind Oksana Baijul of the Ukraine. Tonya Harding placed seventh.
