Calgary, Canada – The United States once again stood atop the medal podium at the final stop on the FIBT AIT America’s Cup four-man circuit by taking the top spot in race five. The gold went to the team of John Napier (Schenectady, NY), Ben Fogel (Nevada City, CA), T.J. Burns (Blue Bell, PA) and J.P. Davies (Lincoln, NE) who dominated the competition.
Napier and his crew had the two fastest pushes of the day a 5.27 and a 5.29 along with the fastest runs of each heat a 54.92 and a 55.39 for a combined time of 1:50.31 on their way to the victory. Taking the silver, .64 seconds behind Napier was the team of Stephan Bosch (Park City, UT), Rob Peterson (Taylorsville, UT), Tim O’Mara (Salt Lake City, UT) and Jeremy White (Salt Lake City, UT). Bosch and his crew had runs of 55.23 and 55.72 for a combined time of 1:50.95. The bronze went to the team of Richard Christensen, Ryan McConnell, Kelly Wells and Chris Ripley from Canada. The team had a combined time of 1:51.30 after runs of 55.48 and 55.82.
Rounding out the top six: in fourth, the American team of Mike Bradley (Westerly, RI), Jeff Larkin (Penn Run, PA), John Caponio (Concord, CA) and Brian Spickler (Indiana, PA) with runs of 55.69 and 56.22 for a combined time of 1:51.91; in fifth, the American team of Grayson Fertig (Oxford, CT), Will Person (St. Louis, MO), Ryan Wrisley (Peru, NY) and Lorenzo Hill (Senoia, GA) with runs of 56.14 and 55.79 for a combined time of 1:51.93 and in sixth, the Canadian team of Devin Findlay, Matt Davie, Evan Openshaw and Fred Guay with runs of 56.16 and 56.35 for a combined time of 1:52.51.
Also competing for the United States: Joe Sisson, Peter VanDyke, Devin Seale and Bronson Duerden in seventh, with runs of 56.47 and 56.80 for a combined time of 1:53.27 and the team of Matt Anderson (Santa Rosa, CA), John Bagley, 2005 Europa Cup Champion Chris Hedquist (Salt Lake City, UT) and Peter Blumert (Paradise, CA) in eighth, with runs of 56.70 and 56.71 for a combined time of 1:53.41.
Up next will be the final race of the FIBT AIT America’s Cup four-man circuit tomorrow. After the race the 2006 overall 4-man America’s Cup Champion will be named along with the overall combined champion from the 2-man and 4-man.
