Last Second Stop Gives USA Futsal 5-5 Tie and Hope in Pan American Games

 Want a little excitement. Try Futsal.
USA goalie Nick Vorberg stopped a 10-meter penalty kick by Ecuador with one second left in the game to preserve a 5-5 tie and keep the American team alive in pool play of Futsal, the indoor version of soccer at the Pan American Games Tuesday.
To set up the final game-ending stop, the U.S. pulled Vorberg with 3:10 left in the game and Cabral Denison scored on a penalty kick with 1:30 left in the game to knot the score.
Goals Scored: Ordonez (ECU), Dambra (USA), Stewart (USA), Orellana (ECU, Galarza (ECU), Denison (USA).
The game was tied 2-2 in the first half on goals by Don Dambra and Matthew Stewart of the U.S.
The U.S. finishes pool play Wednesday against Costa Rica and must win by three goals to advance to the playoffs.
The U.S. lost to powerful Argentina Monday, 5-2, in its first game.
“We played with more passion, more heart tonight,” said Coach Tozar Keith. “We’re not out of it. We still have to keep going strong.”
The sport is making its debut in the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro.
